Engine Transplants to Chevy CMPs

This page will cover my experiences in replacing the orginal Stovebolt 6 which had a 216 cubic inch engine with later Stovebolt 261 cubic inch engine. This one if not the ideal conversion to up power a Chevy CMP as the engines are diamensionly nearly identical making the 261 a bolt in conversion. There are many minor (major) differences that must be dwelth with but that is the point of this page. As an expediant and for reference present below is the the 1960 Chevrolet Truck Over Haul Manual Engine Section.
